An 18-year-old driver from Burlington died early Monday morning in a single-car crash on the Mass. Pike east in Brighton.
Joseph Fournier, who was the sole occupant in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash at about 1:45 a.m., according to state police.
“Preliminary investigation by Trooper Cody Porter indicates that an eastbound 2019 Honda Civic veered off the roadway to the left and struck the jersey barrier,” police said. “The vehicle then went across all lanes, striking the guardrail, and then veered back across all lanes into the jersey barrier again where it came to final rest.”
“Speed is believed to be a contributing factor,” police added.
The crash remains under investigation.
