2 state police members on leave over apparent hallway water-slide incident caught on video

“Department members had an obligation to end the activity, which had no place or purpose in a professional training setting."

Two members of the Massachusetts State Police have been relieved of duty, and internal investigations have been opened, after a video shows a trainee sliding down a water-covered hallway on his stomach.

The video begins with someone shouting, “Go!” As the apparent trainee, shirtless and wearing a helmet and shorts, runs down the hallway and begins to glide on his stomach, another dumps extra water on him and the hallway.

The two members were relieved due to “failing to intercede in a potentially unsafe and unofficial activity in which several trainees were engaged,” according to state police spokesman David Procopio in a statement.

“Both Department members had an obligation to end the activity, which had no place or purpose in a professional training setting, and failed to do so,” he said.

State Police Internal Affairs are planning to hold hearings for the two members in question to decide if they will be suspended while the internal investigations go on, according to Procopio.
