A 19-year-old woman is dead after being shot in the head on Thursday night in Chelsea.

The shooting happened near 50 Garfield Ave., Chelsea Chief of Police Brian Kyes said. The suspect, who fled on foot on Wesley St., has long blonde hair and was wearing a black puffy jacket.

The scene is still active, Kyes said, and residents in the area are being urged to stay inside.
