Police issue warning after several reports of man approaching children in Mass. town

The incidents were reported in the area of Philip Avenue and Fox Hill Road in Burlington.

Burlington Police Department issued a warning Tuesday morning, following several reports of a suspicious man in a vehicle approaching children.

According to a post by police on Facebook, two incidents were called in near the same area and the police believe it to be the same person.

Chief Thomas Browne reported in the post that the department is investigating these two reports, which were reported in the area of Philip Avenue and Fox Hill Road in Burlington. 

The first report was from Wednesday Aug. 11 around 5:45 p.m. to 6 p.m., when a man driving a white four-door sedan approached a 13-year-old girl who was walking her dog. The second report was from Saturday Aug. 14 around the same time, when a man driving a black SUV approached a 13-year-old girl and asked her whether she wanted a ride home.

The warning also issued a description of the suspect, “described as a light-skinned male in his 50s or 60s with a medium build, balding with white/gray hair, possibly speaking with an accent.”

Anyone with information, especially those who live in the neighborhoods of Philip Avenue and Fox Hill Road, is urged to call Burlington Police Department at 781-272-1212.
