Gunshots fired in Back Bay

There have been no reported injuries so far.

Gunshots were fired on Fairfield Street in Boston’s Back Bay on Wednesday night, according to the Boston Police Department.

Police said they responded to reports of gunshots at 7:44 p.m. near where Fairfield Street intersects with Boylston Street and Newbury Street.

Police also said no arrests have been made and they are actively investigating the scene.

Adam Gaffin at UniversalHub reported the gunshots occurred around 45 Fairfield Street, outside the Mandarin Hotel. According to Twitter users, it appears at least 10 to 12 gunshots were fired.

He also reported that Fairfield Street was closed off, and Bolyston Street may also be closed off. Newbury Street remained opened, he wrote.

Some windows were blown out by the gunfire, Eric Kane from 7News Boston reported.

According to another Twitter user, multiple vehicles and the windows of Fidelity Investments were shot.

In a video recorded from the corner of Fairfield Street and Boylston Street, WBZ’s Kristina Rex showed the Fidelity Investments window was shattered. She said she talked to one witness who was walking in the area and ducked behind a car when he heard the gunshots.

Drew Karedes posted a video on twitter interviewing two women who were sitting on the patio of a restaurant. One of the girls said she was trampled by people running away from the gunshots and then ran into a boutique.

“These people came running from the street with fear on their faces yelling ‘run’ and then multiple shots fired right after and everyone ran,” one woman said.
