A Duxbury teen is facing a murder charge after his father’s body was pulled from Island Creek Pond in the town early Monday, officials said.
Jack Callahan, 19, was arrested by Duxbury Police late Monday morning, after undergoing a psychiatric evaluation, according to WCVB. Callahan is expected to be arraigned in Plymouth District Court Tuesday.
Duxbury police responded to a call from a resident who said her 19-year-old son arrived home and said that his father was missing. Via investigation, police found the pair had been dropped off at Crocker Park by an Uber while on their way home. Police found some items that belonged to the son there and then began searching for the father.
Around 2 a.m., police and fire officials found the father “submerged in the pond,” Cruz’s office said. Life-saving measures were performed, and he was brought to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, where he was pronounced dead.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will work to determine how the victim died, authorities said.
