2 hit-and-run crashes being investigated in Worcester and Andover

Authorities are investigating two hit-and-run crashes, one of which threw an 11-year-old boy 20 feet from where he had been standing in a crosswalk in Worcester, the other injuring a family off I-93 in Andover.

In the Worcester incident, the victim was in the crosswalk on Pleasant Street on Tuesday when he was allegedly struck by a vehicle that then took off from the scene, according to WHDH.

The boy wasn’t conscious immediately after the crash, but came to within a few minutes, witnesses told the news station. He was brought to a nearby hospital and is recovering. Another boy who was with him wasn’t hurt. 

Surveillance video captured images of a dark-colored sedan hitting the boy; anyone with information can reach Worcester police at 508-799-8606.

In the Andover incident, a family was traveling on the southbound side of I-93 early Sunday when they were allegedly struck by another vehicle, which landed on its roof. The driver then took off on foot, and police were unable to find them, according to WHDH.

“You made a mistake but at least make sure the people are okay,” Esther Galvez, who was in the car that was struck with her aunt and uncle, told the news station. “It’s like, are they ever going to get caught and face consequences for the way that they left because my aunt has broken ribs I have a back injury and a black eye.”
