Man charged after allegedly head-butting staff, using racial slurs at Seaport restaurant

A Fall River man is facing assault charges in Boston after he allegedly head-butted staff at the Ocean Prime Restaurant on Thursday night.Jason Wages, 29, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and battery, one count of possession with intent to distribute a Class D substance, and two counts of leaving the scene of property damage stemming from the incident that began at the restaurant in the Seaport, according to Boston police.Officers responded to a report of a fight at the restaurant at 100 Pier 4 Boulevard around 6:20 p.m. on Thursday. Witnesses told police that Wages and three other individuals were having dinner in the eatery when the 29-year-old began harassing female wait staff and customers, according to the department.When confronted by restaurant staff, Wages allegedly head-butted an employee, called him a racial slur multiple times, and then head-butted a second employee. Before leaving the restaurant, he allegedly spit at a third staff member and then threatened to shoot “everyone in the place” as he departed. Witnesses told police that Wages took his keys from the valet, striking a motor vehicle as he drove away.When officers arrived at the scene, they were informed that a motor vehicle crash had occurred at 316 Northern Ave. at the Boston Public Works Building, according to police. Responding to the crash scene, officers found an unoccupied vehicle that had struck the building and damaged a gas line. Witnesses described two men running away from the scene on foot carrying garbage bags.According to police, Wages was found by officers at 22 Drydock Ave. and the second man was located in the parking garage at 12 Drydock Ave. The garbage bags contained 53 large heat-sealed bags of marijuana and $8,600.Wages was placed under arrest and charged. The other man was field interrogated and observed, or FIO’d, and released. His name was not released by police.Wages was expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court Friday, according to police. Attorney information for the 29-year-old was not immediately available.
