Market Basket says imposter Facebook page is trying to get customers’ private information

Someone is reportedly pretending to be Market Basket on Facebook and is asking customers for private information.The Tewksbury-based supermarket chain said in a post to its official Facebook page that this imposter page is sending out friend requests and asking people for “sensitive information” to be able to enter its “Drink Up, Work Out” giveaway.The company noted that it doesn’t send out friend requests and that if a customer receives one, it is a fake.“Market Basket will never request payment information online, and we ask our community to be vigilant and to not provide this information to other Facebook pages,” the company said in the post. “The safety and privacy of our customers is very important to us and we are working diligently to address this concern.”
