Three people and one dog survived a plane crash in Leicester on Tuesday.

Rescue teams from Leicester and Spencer along with Environmental Police responded to the scene at the Spencer town border around 5 p.m., the Leicester Police Department said. First responders brought two passengers to ambulances with the help of nearby snowmobilers, while the third was carried out of the woods in a rescue basket. Massachusetts State Police and the FAA also responded to the crash, and the National Transportation Safety Board was notified.

Photos from local authorities show the crash site on Moose Hill Road in the town just west of Worcester. The plane appeared heavily damaged but still mostly intact.

The department said the three people on the plane had some injuries, but none seemed life-threatening. Leicester Animal Control looked after the dog, which did not appear to be injured. Massachusetts State Police has claimed the plane to determine the cause of the crash.

A nearby fire photographer shared additional images of the scene online, including one where a Leicester EMT holds the small white dog. He said that the three people on board complained of broken bones.

This is an updating story.
