22-year-old woman dies in Martha’s Vineyard crash
Two other females — a teenager and another young adult — were injured.
A 22-year-old woman is dead after police say a driver passed two vehicles on Beach Road in Tisbury, Martha’s Vineyard, on Saturday night and then struck her Volkswagen Beetle head on.
Emma Hall, of Oak Bluffs on the island, was driving the 2010 Beetle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two female passengers in her car — a teenager and another young adult — were injured and taken to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, with one then taken to a Boston hospital, police said.
The driver of the other vehicle, Zachary Dupon, 25, also of Oak Bluffs, was transported to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital with minor injuries. He’s being charged with motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, speeding, and a marked lanes violation.
According to authorities, Dupon, traveling southbound on Beach Road around 8 p.m. Saturday in a Nissan SUV, moved into the northbound lane to make the double pass, striking Hall’s car after doing so.
