1 dead in Revere fire; woman jumps from window to safety
Authorities were called to Thornton Street around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
One person died and a woman jumped from a second-floor window to safety during a house fire in Revere early Tuesday morning.The state Department of Fire Services confirmed the fatality at the three-story, multi-family home. The blaze remains under investigation; the deceased has not been publicly identified.Authorities were called to 54 Thornton St. around 2:30 a.m. and were told three people were trapped, WHDH reported. Two of the three were able to escape, with the woman jumping from the second floor, according to WCVB. The third trapped person died. Two people were brought to a Boston hospital, DFS said.“We arrived and there was heavy fire on the second floor and extended to the third. We had a report of three people trapped, initially,” Revere Deputy Fire Chief Glen Rich told WCVB of the four-alarm blaze. “One person had actually jumped out the window and sustained injuries.”

The Salvation Army responded to the scene to help take care of those affected.
The Red Cross is also helping the survivors, which the organization says number 34.
