The fatal crash happened just before 7 p.m. at the corner of School and Cross Street, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Lowell police. Officials said a man had been pushing the woman in a wheelchair when a Chevy Silverado with a snow plow attached struck the pair. The woman was reportedly thrown under a parked car across the street due to the impact. She was taken to Tufts Medical Center, where she died from her injuries Sunday morning according to authorities. The man was also taken to an area hospital where he remains in treatment, officials added. It had been a wet and snowy evening as a winter storm swept across New England, though the District Attorney’s office did not say if weather played any role in the crash. Both the drivers of the plow truck and the parked vehicle reportedly remained at the scene afterward. Lowell police have not yet identified either victim, and an investigation is ongoing.
