State police searching for 13-year-old Pittsfield girl missing since Saturday

Authorities are searching for a 13-year-old girl who went missing from her Pittsfield home Saturday night and may be with a person she met online, state police said in a release Sunday. Pittsfield and state police are investigating after Roos Bajanth reportedly left her house on Columbus Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Saturday and never returned home. Police said it’s possible she is with a man she met online, though authorities do not know the person’s identity.Roos may have been seen early Sunday in the Schenectady, N.Y., area, officers said, adding that it’s unclear whether she is still there.Roos is 5-foot-5, weighs 90 pounds, and has brown skin, black hair, and brown eyes, authorities reported. Police believe she may be wearing a brown winter jacket, a red shirt, and possibly pajamas. Authorities said they are currently checking into whether Roos’ disappearance meets the criteria to activate an AMBER Alert, but urged anyone who thinks they have seen her or has information on her whereabouts to call 911 or Pittsfield Police at 413-448-9700, extension 0.
