Wrong-way driver seriously injured in Fall River crash with truck
The crash occurred on Route 24 after 3 a.m. Friday, authorities said.
A 36-year-old Rhode Island woman sustained serious, life-threatening injuries when she reportedly crashed into a truck while driving the wrong way on Route 24 in Fall River early Friday morning.The crash happened around 3:10 a.m., according to state police. Via investigation, police believe the woman, who was operating a 2017 Mazda 3, was traveling northward in the southbound lane of the roadway when her vehicle collided with a 2015 Volvo truck that was pulling a trailer for a seafood company, according to a police press release.The woman was brought to Rhode Island Hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 40-year-old man from New Bedford, was also taken to the hospital for possible minor injuries, police said.Authorities are continuing to investigate what happened, including why the woman was driving on the wrong side of the road. The scene was cleared just before 6 a.m., according to the release.
