Couple gets married at Dunkin’ drive-thru
“Our story wasn’t glamour, but it was true romance."
The red pickup truck meandered to the Dunkin’ drive-thru, its window rolled down. The drive-thru window slid open, as well. But instead of placing an order, the man in the truck, and the woman, manager of that Dunkin’ restaurant, exchanged wedding vows. The company says “America runs on Dunkin’,” but now the coffee and donuts company beloved by New Englanders and beyond, can now claim that America gets married at Dunkin’, as well. The unique nuptials were exchanged at a Dunkin’ in Edmond, Oklahoma, according to The New York Times.Though many may not dream of dangling out of a drive-thru window on their wedding day, it was a fitting ceremony for bride Sugar Good, and her new husband, John Thompson. The two actually met at that very spot in 2017 – Thompson consistently visited the Dunkin’ every weekday at 7:15 a.m. to pick up his coffee and breakfast sandwich, the newspaper reported. But it would be about a year before Good would slip her business card in with Thompson’s breakfast in 2018.The two began dating, and this past April, Thompson proposed. And yes, Thompson did pop the question to Good at Dunkin’ as well, in the parking lot before her shift began one morning, according to The Times. Then, on Oct. 13, it was time to say “I do.” After the drive-thru vows, the two celebrated with a group of about 30 family, friends, and Dunkin’ regulars, the Times reported.“Our story wasn’t glamour, but it was true romance,” Good told the newspaper.
