14-year-old boy slips on rocks and drowns while fishing with his father and brother
The incident happened Sunday at Beavertail State Park in Rhode Island.
A 14-year-old boy was fishing with his father and brother on Sunday at Beavertail State Park in Rhode Island when he slipped on the rocks, fell into the water, and ultimately drowned, according to authorities.
The boy — Daniel Carrascuza of Providence — was retrieved from the water at the coastal Jamestown park by his father and two Good Samaritans, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said in a release. They began CPR on him until emergency responders arrived at about 7:15 p.m. He was taken to Newport Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“DEM recognizes how shocking and devastating the death of a child is and offers condolences to the Carrascuza family for the unbearable loss of their son,” the release said.
