Man struck by Fairhaven police cruiser dies from injuries
The incident happened around 11 p.m. Tuesday night.
The 32-year-old pedestrian struck by a police cruiser in Fairhaven late Tuesday night, sustaining serious injuries at the time, has died, according to authorities.
Christian Lapaz-Dejesus, who was living in New Bedford, succumbed to his injuries around 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
It was around 11 p.m. Tuesday that the cruiser, traveling westbound on Route 6, reportedly struck Lapaz-Dejesus in the roadway just west of a 7-Eleven.
State police are continuing to investigate what happened.
