Security cameras captured the moment a white, 2008 Ford Escape plunged into the Reserved Channel last week in the Seaport, where the vehicle and two bodies found inside were eventually recovered on Friday, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.

“My office continues to investigate the deaths of Tatianna Morales and Djovany Pierre with the goal of finding answers for their loved ones and the public,” District Attorney Rachael Rollins said in a statement. “We’re also here to connect their families with resources and assistance as they cope with this tragedy.”

The bodies of Morales, 21, of New Bedford, and Pierre, 21, of Roxbury, were discovered in the submerged vehicle after relatives of both reported them missing on Wednesday, Aug. 12, prosecutors said.

Investigators said last week they learned a vehicle had entered the water in the area near Black Falcon Avenue, which runs along the channel that leads to Boston Harbor. Massachusetts State Police said Friday the discoveries were part of a still pending investigation being led by detectives assigned to Rollins’s office.

Family members told reporters that Morales had posted a Snapchat video from the area — which relatives and friends searched themselves — where the two bodies were ultimately found.

On Tuesday, prosecutors said video footage from security cameras near Black Falcon Cruise Terminal showed the Ford Escape, which belonged to Morales, crashing through a wooden guardrail and into the channel at approximately 10:32 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

The SUV and bodies were found at about 12:45 p.m. Friday, officials said.

“The investigation is ongoing into the facts surrounding the incident, including the nature of Morales and Pierre’s relationship,” Rollins’s office said.

Investigators ask anyone with information about the two deaths to contact detectives at 617-727-8817.
