Man struck, killed by commuter rail train in Somerville
Transit police were called to the tracks near Beacon Street around 1 p.m. Friday.
A man was fatally struck by an outbound commuter rail train in Somerville on Friday, according to transit police.The incident happened around 1 p.m. near Beacon Street.The man, whose identity has not been released, was “intentionally on the right of way” when he was struck by the Fitchburg Line train, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.Transit police are investigating. Authorities do not suspect foul play.
Due to the investigation, Fitchburg Line trains were planned to stop at Porter Square, and passengers were encouraged to use the Red Line to continue into Boston, the MBTA said on Twitter. Those looking to leave the city were told to use the Red Line to Porter Square and then connect to the commuter rail there.

⚠️ Due to police activity, all Fitchburg trains will originate/terminate at Porter Square until further notice. Inbound passengers will use the Red Line to Boston. Outbound passengers can use the Red Line from Boston for a train connection at Porter Square. Expect major delays.
