Family of man killed in Worcester crash say he was forced off road by another vehicle

The man’s car fell from the Route 190 overpass onto Route 290, say police, who are seeking information from the public about the crash.

The family of a Worcester man who was killed in a Friday crash say he was forced off the road by another driver, WCVB reportsSerena Jaber, 18, told the station she was in the passenger seat of the Jeep Wrangler her 50-year-old father, Hamad Jaber, was driving when the crash occurred Friday night. The Jeep was on the ramp from Route 290 Eastbound to Route 190 Northbound in Worcester when it went over the sidewall of the ramp, falling off the overpass down onto the travel lanes of 290 Eastbound. State police say they are still investigating what caused the car to depart the roadway and fall off the overpass. Serena Jaber told WCVB another car forced them off the road. “A beige/tan-colored car hit into us on my dad’s side, and then he honked the horn and had to try to swerve to save us,” she told the station. “But I just remember putting my hands on my head and closing my eyes, and the next thing I knew, we were off the ramp, off the bridge and down on the other highway.”Her 50-year-old father died at the scene of the crash, while she survived with minor injuries. “A second vehicle may have been involved in the crash,” police said in a statement. “The Barracks is looking for any information or dash cam video that members of the public may have. The Holden Barracks can be contacted at 508-829-8410, Trooper Carroll is the investigating officer.”Rabab Jaber, Hamad Jaber’s wife, told WCVB the driver involved needs to come forward. “This isn’t right,” she said. “They need to be accountable. Justice needs to be served. They killed my husband, and they injured my daughter. I’m never going to get him back.”The crash remains under investigation, according to police.
