Vermont’s free fishing day Saturday; no license required
Anyone may fish without a fishing license in the state's streams and lakes today.
MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont’s annual free fishing day is underway.
Anyone may fish without a fishing license in the state’s streams and lakes on Saturday. The day also kicked off the start of the regular bass fishing season.
“Fishing is an activity that can be shared with family or easily taught to newcomers while enjoying quality time together,” said Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Louis Porter in a written statement.
The bass fishing season runs through the last day of November.
The annual Grand Isle Fishing Festival, which is normally held on Free Fishing Day, is on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak.
