When Boston police responded to South Boston following “numerous calls” regarding fireworks, a group gathered with the devices told authorities they didn’t know they were illegal.Police responded to Gavin Way around 9 p.m. Friday and found a group of people in the parking lot of Saint Peter’s Church “with several packages of fireworks in plain sight.”Authorities took the fireworks, and the group was told that they could also be fined.Police noted that having fireworks is not only illegal in Massachusetts, it’s also against the law to buy them legally somewhere else and bring them back to the state.
