A 37-year-old South Easton man is dead following a head-on crash on Sunday, and the 25-year-old driver of the other vehicle is being charged.

Emergency responders were called to the area near 539 Bay Road in Easton around 1:50 p.m. There they found Scott A. Lewis, who was driving a Kia Rio and was the only person in that vehicle; he died as a result of his injuries.

The other driver, Jake McCabe, 25, was operating a Cadillac Escalade. He was brought to Boston Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office in a news release.

Police are requesting charges against McCabe, including motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, a marked lanes violation, and unsafe operation of a motor vehicle, via a criminal citation. The district attorney’s office said there could be further charges against McCabe, noting that the investigation is continuing.

McCabe will have a clerk’s hearing at Taunton District Court, the date for which hasn’t been determined.

Lewis leaves behind his parents, sister, and a niece, his obituary says.
