A 32-year-old died in a Randolph crash. Now police want to know more about a mattress found in the roadway.

The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. Sunday on Route 24 northbound.

A Brockton man died after crashing on Route 24 northbound Sunday night, and state police want to know more about a mattress found in the roadway, according to a news release.Police said they are investigating whether the mattress, or an action to avoid the mattress, played a part in the Randolph crash that killed 32-year-old Stefon Thomas around 8:15 p.m.The Norfolk district attorney’s office, alongside state police, are seeking the public’s help identifying who’s responsible for the mattress being there.“The first call to 911 indicating the presence of a mattress in the roadway came minutes before the crash, but that caller did not see how the mattress got there,” District Attorney Michael Morrissey said in the release. “We would be interested in anyone who might have seen a mattress dislodge from a vehicle in that area … or to speak to the person who lost the mattress they were transporting.”Police are also asking anyone who may have given away or sold a mattress through Craigslist to contact the Milton Barracks at 617-698-5840.“Most stores may be closed because of COVID-19, but there may still be private transactions taking place,” Morrissey said. “If you sold or gave away a mattress on Sunday to someone who might have been taking that road, please let police know.”
