2 drivers have close calls with debris crashing through windshields

A couple of drivers in Massachusetts recently had close calls with debris flying through the windshields of their vehicles.A woman was driving on Route 1 southbound in Danvers around 10:45 a.m. Sunday when a tire became dislodged from a trailer ahead of her and smashed through the windshield of her Ford Escape, state police said.In Littleton, on I-495 around noon Monday, a New York man was driving when a rod fell off the back of a truck ahead of him and crashed through his windshield, according to authorities.In the Danvers incident, the 66-year-old woman, identified as Karen Hagen by WCVB, was taken to a nearby hospital with a cut and minor injuries, police said.“I had seen the tire in the air, but I didn’t know it was going to hit me,” Hagen told the news station.

In the Littleton incident, the 30-year-old man was driving a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder. He wasn’t injured and wasn’t able to get a description of the truck the pole came off of, police said.
