85-year-old woman dies in Brookline 3-car crash
One vehicle reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic, striking two others.
An 85-year-old woman was killed in a three-car crash Sunday afternoon in Brookline.Judith Spencer, of West Roxbury, was in a vehicle with her daughter, who was driving, and granddaughter when, around 2 p.m. near 895 Hammond St., a vehicle driven by a 65-year-old Brookline man “veered into oncoming traffic” and struck two vehicles, including theirs, police said in a news release.Spencer was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and died shortly after she arrived. Her daughter, who lives in Brookline, and her 10-year-old granddaughter were also brought to Beth Israel, according to the release.The other vehicle struck had five people in it, including two children. The adults were taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, while the children, 10 and 8, were taken to Boston Children’s Hospital. All have since been released, police said.The 65-year-old man, who was driving the vehicle that crossed into oncoming traffic, was taken to Beth Israel and was said to be in stable condition.Police are continuing to investigate what happened, they said.
