A driver was trapped in his vehicle in Hanson when a tree took down wires
The road was closed for over 12 hours while crews worked to restore power.
A driver was trapped inside his vehicle in the middle of the road in Hanson when a large tree fell down, taking primary power lines down with it Thursday evening, according to firefighters.Firefighters said they responded to Monponsett Street/Route 58 at the Briggs Street intersection for the downed tree, which also knocked over a utility pole. The driver was removed from the truck, and National Grid responded to the scene.About 200 customers were without power when the outage began around 4:14 p.m.,according to outage information posted on Twitter by the fire department.

The road was closed as authorities worked on scene, and police reported that Route 58 remained closed until 5:25 a.m. Friday.
