Gloucester Police Chief Ed Conley said despite the end of the larger physical search, the investigation into the disappearance of Abbie Flynn, who was reported missing Sunday evening, is continuing.

“Officers remain vigilant around trails, coastline and harbor … There is no indication of a crime or that the public is any in danger,” Conley said.

Flynn’s last known communication with friends or family was around 4 p.m. when she told her son she might go for a walk. The 59-year-old was known to be an avid hiker, according to police.

She was reported missing when guests for her Sunday night Super Bowl party arrived around 6 p.m. and found she wasn’t home.

“There was indication that she had been at home, that she had prepared for the party, but she was not there,” Conley said on Monday. “When she didn’t arrive after a little while, they called the Gloucester Police Department and reported her missing.”

The Coast Guard and state police airwing assisted in the search in recent days, as authorities scoured woodlands and areas along the coast for Flynn.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Gloucester police at 978-283-1212.
