Boston firefighters extinguish downtown trash fire after containing another blaze in East Boston

In both fires, no injuries were reported.

Boston firefighters fought flames on Thursday night near the Omni Parker House hotel on School Street, where a Republic Services waste disposal truck was forced to dump his load in an alleyway after reportedly smelling fire from his compactor.

Crews rushed to put out the blaze before flames reached the high rise buildings on either side of the alleyway, according to tweets from the Boston Fire Department.

No injuries or damaged buildings were reported, but this was the second fire of the night.

Around 9:20 p.m., another fire had erupted on the third floor of a building at 35 Eutaw Street in East Boston.

The two-alarm fire had all crews working to put out the flames.

While no injuries were reported during the building fire, officials reported major damages displacing 15 residents.

Boston Neighborhood Services and Red Cross Massachusetts helped find housing for those impacted, firefighters said.

Investigators are currently working to determine what caused the fire.
