Seven raccoons were found in a Brewster dumpster. Brewster Animal Control

When Brewster Animal Control was called to a dumpster for a report of a raccoon stuck inside, they found not just one masked mammal, but seven. The furry, striped-tailed animals appeared nestled among the cardboard and trash in what some might think of as a kind of raccoon party.Animal control called it a record for the most raccoons they’ve found stuck in a dumpster at once.“The raccoons were very fat and healthy,” the department said in a Facebook post. The post drew widespread praise from the Brewster community, boasting more than 50 comments as of Wednesday afternoon, many commenting on the animals’ general cuteness and at least one suggesting that all dumpsters should have permanent safety ladders installed. The raccoons were removed from the dumpster and were released safely into nearby woods, according to animal control.

“Please remember to secure all dumpsters to prevent animals from getting trapped inside them,” the post said.
