Family, friends of missing 16-year-old Dorchester girl take to Facebook to expand search efforts
"Wherever Emily is right now, we hope she’s safe and returns to us soon."

Emily Nguyen, 16, of Dorchester
The family, friends, and supporters of Emily Nguyen, the 16-year-old Dorchester girl reported missing last week, are asking for help over social media in bolstering their efforts to bring her home.
“We’d like to take a moment to thank everyone for the tremendous love and support in finding Emily Nguyen,” a post written Tuesday by Nguyen’s parents on the “Finding Emily Nguyen” page says. “As of right now, Emily has not come home and we are still working with local law enforcement. Any information we have gathered have been sent to local detectives for analyzing. Wherever Emily is right now, we hope she’s safe and returns to us soon.”
Nguyen was last seen near 612 Metropolitan Ave. in Hyde Park around 2:30 p.m. Friday, Boston police said.
Authorities described Nguyen as an Asian female who is approximately 5-foot-2, 105 pounds, and has “long, straight dark brown hair and brown eyes.”
She is believed to be wearing a red sweatshirt, a long brown coat with a hood, black pants, and black high-top sneakers, police said.
“It has been 3 days since Emily’s disappearance,” a Monday post on the Facebook page says. “Emily’s family has contacted the local police and the FBI and they are working expeditiously on the case. But time is running out, and we need to do more to support the authority, with the permission of Emily’s parents, we ask that the members of the public for help to join us in the search for Emily. We are creating this Facebook page to consolidate information and to help find Emily to return home safely.
“We are looking for volunteers to post flyers all across the cities and states. Please message us if you can help.”

On Tuesday, the group left fliers at VietNet Travel, 1029 Dorchester Ave. in Dorchester, for the public to take and post around the city, according to another post.
Police ask anyone with information regarding Nguyen’s whereabouts to call 911 or detectives at 617-343-4335.
