The almost-naked runners were in fine holiday spirits Saturday.
Has it really been 20 years since a bunch of bored Boston guys decided to run down Newbury Street in Speedo bikini briefs and, rather than getting arrested, wound up kicking off what would become a $2 million charity event?
Yes it has, and in fact the warm (albeit wet) weather this past Saturday seemed to spur on the crowd of almost-naked runners, who were in fine holiday spirits (and had clearly, in some cases, imbibed some fine holiday spirits) for this year’s run, which as always benefits Play Ball, a nonprofit that funds team sports for underserved middle-schoolers. This year’s take was approximately $96,000.
