Business owner dies in single-vehicle plow truck crash in Stoughton

A Walpole man has died after he suffered serious injuries in a vehicle crash at the business he owned in Stoughton on Wednesday morning.Ioannis Asaridis, 57, died after the plow truck he was operating slid down an embankment behind the Citgo gas station he owned and operated at 1002 Park St.Police were initially called to the scene around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday for a crash involving one vehicle. Asaridis was taken to a nearby hospital with “serious injuries.” He was later brought to Boston Medical Center, according to WCVB.“He was attempting to hitch the pickup truck he was driving to a trailer, and he had the door open to his truck and went off the back wall,” Lt. John Bonney told the news station.Asaridis struck a tree and became pinned, The Enterprise in Brockton reported.The gas station also had U-haul trucks for rent, and a garage for car services, according to WCVB.“He was well-liked by several members of the Police Department,” Bonney told WCVB. “A lot of people have said nice things about him over the last 24 hours or so.”
