A 34-year-old man was fatally injured while working on a tree around 11 a.m. Tuesday outside a Wakefield home, according to officials.
WCVB reported the man was helping remove a tree from the property when it snapped and threw him into a nearby wooded area. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was working for an independent tree company, police said, in a wooded area on Greenwood Street.
His name has not yet been released.
Wakefield police have secured the street for investigation, according to a release, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified of the incident.
State police will help with the investigation, the release said.
The Wakefield Police Department tweeted Tuesday afternoon that there is no danger to the surrounding area.
