"I kept saying through my entire pregnancy that that was literally my biggest fear."

A mother gave birth Thanksgiving morning alone in a car on the Concord Rotary as her boyfriend ran to get help.

Emerson Hospital officials confirmed that Hunter William Mignone was born around 5:30 a.m. in his family’s jeep on Route 2 East in Concord.

Hunter’s mom, Alyssa Sughrue, told the Boston Globe she knew the baby wasn’t going to wait, so she had her boyfriend pull the car over and run to get help at a nearby prison. She had the baby alone in the car while he searched for help.

“I felt like my instincts kicked in and I was super focused on what I needed to do,” she told the paper.

Baby Hunter is the family’s third child, and the hospital said both he and his mother are doing well.

“It’s funny because I remember seeing a video on Facebook of someone that delivered in a car. I kept saying through my entire pregnancy that that was literally my biggest fear,” Sughrue told the Globe. “I just wanted to make it to the hospital in time. But go figure.”
