Firefighters couldn’t save this Sharon family’s Thanksgiving meal, so they got them a new one

"She had people coming over for Thanksgiving and I just felt a little bad that she didn't have anything to serve the family."

One family’s Thanksgiving would have been ruined this year — if not for the Sharon Fire Department.

The Brass family told Boston 25 News their turkey caught on fire shortly after they put it in the oven on Thursday.

By the time firefighters arrived, the flames were already out, so the first responders helped clean grease out of the oven and gave the family the OK to keep cooking the turkey.

But the oven caught on fire again.

Firefighter Christopher Cirillo told the Boston 25 he didn’t want to leave the Brass family with a ruined Thanksgiving, so he made a few calls.

“She had people coming over for Thanksgiving and I just felt a little bad that she didn’t have anything to serve the family,” he said. “So we called a couple restaurants, and the Sky restaurant in Norwood was open. I talked to Leann Green, the manager, and they donated the food for her.”

The firefighters made a special delivery to the Brass household with all of the fixings — including apple pie.
