Cambridge firefighters battling 2-alarm blaze at Harvard Yard classroom building
Smoke could be seen coming from the roof.
The Cambridge Fire Department has struck a second alarm for a fire in a classroom building at 26 Harvard Yard, the department said on Twitter.A fire alarm went off at 11:57 a.m., according to the department.The building is reportedly 3 ½ stories
, and officials reported “heavy smoke from the roof” and “fire in a pipe chase.”

Multiple engines were called to the scene. The building has a wood and brick frame, according to the department.
2nd alarm has been ordered for 26 Harvard Yard, Box 2-481 for the fire in a 3 1/2 story, brick & wood classroom bldg.

Live video from the scene showed fire crews battling as smoke billowed from the roof. A firefighter could be seen breaking glass panels on the roof.
