Coast Guard: 1 fisherman rescued, search ongoing for 3 others off Martha’s Vineyard

The fishing boat capsized and sank off the island on Sunday.

Coast Guard rescue crews are searching for three fisherman off of Martha’s Vineyard after their boat capsized and sank on Sunday. One fisherman who was aboard the Leonardo out of New Bedford was rescued by crews from the Coast Guard’s Cape Cod air station who responded to the vessel’s distress signal, according to the Coast Guard. The boat capsized and sank about 24 nautical miles southwest of Martha’s Vineyard.The three fishermen were still missing as of 11 p.m. Sunday night, with Coast Guard vessels Cobia and Escanaba searching overnight.
