13-year-old Peabody boy struck by car on Route 114 Tuesday night has died
The teen was attempting to cross the roadway on his bicycle, authorities said.
A 13-year-old Peabody boy struck by a car while trying to cross Route 114/Andover Street in Peabody on his bicycle Tuesday night has died, according to authorities.The victim was struck near the Walgreens plaza around 8:45 p.m Tuesday, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release. The teen was taken to Salem Hospital where he later died. He has not been publicly identified because of a request by his closest family members to allow them to notify the rest of the family.A 19-year-old Peabody man who was driving the vehicle that struck the boy stayed on scene. He hasn’t been charged, according to the release.“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victim at this incredibly difficult time,” said Peabody Police Chief Thomas Griffin said in the release.
