Around 200 evacuated off Mount Snow ski lift after it stopped working

No one was injured.

Roughly 200 skiers were temporarily stranded on Mount Snow in West Dover, Vermont, late Saturday morning when one of the lifts stopped working, according to officials. The Challenger Lift, located on the ski mountain’s North Face, malfunctioned around 11:45 a.m., and ski patrol began evacuations, a statement from the ski mountain said. Everyone was evacuated by 1:30 p.m.“Mount Snow extends its apologies to the guests who were inconvenienced by this event,” according to part of the statement. “The resort places the highest value on the safety of its guests.”For Tarja McGrail and her daughter, Caitlin, 11, of Sandwich, evacuating the lift meant repelling down a rope, according to WBZ.“I’ve seen this happen on the news but it’s never happened to me before,” Tarja McGrail told the news station. “When I saw them bring the harnesses, I was like, ‘No, is this really happening?’”
