Worcester officials release funeral details for fire Lt. Jason Menard

Services for fallen Worcester fire Lt. Jason Menard, who was killed in a four-alarm fire early Wednesday morning, will be held Sunday and Monday, department officials have announced.

“Calling hours will be held at Mercadante Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 17 from 3-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 44 Temple St., following a private family procession from the funeral home,” a statement released by the city says. “Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.”

Menard will be laid to rest afterward at St. John’s Cemetery on Cambridge Street, officials said.

Mercadante Funeral Home is located at 370 Plantation St. in Worcester.

“Information regarding traffic patterns, street closures and more will be released when available,” officials said.

Menard, a Worcester resident and father of three, died while battling a fire at 7 Stockholm St. Officials said he saved two other firefighters after his crew got trapped while searching for a person and baby who were reportedly still in the building.
