Marine allegedly involved in Emerson student Dan Hollis’s death identified

The U.S. Marine Corps has identified the Marine allegedly under investigation in connection with the death of Emerson College student Daniel Hollis.
Lance Corporal Samuel London is a reservist with the 25th Marine Regiment, and based at Fort Devens, Mass., according to WGBH.
Hollis, 19, a sophomore and member of Emerson’s men’s lacrosse team, suffered brain damage following an altercation near the Allston-Brighton line back on Sept. 28. He never regained consciousness and died on Oct. 2.
The Marine Corps did confirm that a Marine was involved in Hollis’s death investigation back on Oct. 8, but didn’t release their identity.
London was on a pre-deployment leave when the alleged altercation occurred, WGBH reported; he had been called to active duty. The Marine Corps is currently working to separate London from the Corps as the case proceeds.
“The Marine Corps is aware of the circumstances surrounding LCpl Samuel London,” Lt. Heather Chairez, a spokeswoman for the Marine Forces Reserve in New Orleans, told WGBH in a statement. “The charges against him are very serious, and local authorities continue to have our full cooperation.”
While Chairez acknowledges that London could be facing “very serious” charges, she didn’t say what they are.
Boston police did say back on Oct. 4 that they were investigating Hollis’s death as a homicide.
