Photos: Volunteers built a wheelchair-ready Halloween costume for a Billerica boy with cerebral palsy
Parker Rhoads participated in the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce Halloween Stroll with his new costume.
A 6-year-old Billerica boy got a one-of-a-kind Halloween surprise over the weekend — a custom built under-the-sea costume that fits with his wheelchair.

The costume was revealed to Parker Rhoads, who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, on Saturday before the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce Halloween Stroll.
“We love celebrating who he is and making him a part of this world, even if it takes a lot to bring the world to him,” the boy’s mother, Amy Jozan, told the Lowell Sun. “He laughs and smiles and inspires so many people.”
Bonnie Regan, a local volunteer with the nonprofit Magic Wheelchair, began work on creating and fundraising for the costume for Rhoads in September.
“He loved the costume and was smiling all day,” Regan wrote on Facebook the day after the big reveal.

The final design of the underwater-themed costume featured coral, a jellyfish, and a turtle suit for the 6-year-old.
“Parker might just be the most adorable sea turtle we’ve ever seen!” Magic Wheelchair wrote on Facebook.
