Coast Guard: Missing boaters, dog found safe off Virginia coast
Authorities had been searching for Ryan Hollis and Joshua Kane Cairone since Saturday.
The two boaters and their dog, who were reported missing after departing Rhode Island aboard a sailboat bound for Miami, have been found safe, according to authorities. The Coast Guard said late Monday afternoon Ryan Holli, Joshua Kane Cairone, and the French bulldog, Louiś, were found by a rescue aircrew about 100 miles east of Cape Henry, Virginia.Authorities said 40-year-old Hollis left Jamestown, Rhode Island, on Wednesday aboard his his 43-foot Benneteau sailing boat, the Carol K, with the ultimate destination of Miami. Hollis was reported missing by his girlfriend after he failed to check in with her on Friday, according to CBS Boston. The Coast Guard began its search on Saturday, covering 30,000 miles before the two men were found. The boaters are continuing towards Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.
