More than 200,000 customers were without power in Massachusetts on Thursday morning after a severe storm with high winds downed trees and power lines overnight. The National Weather Service warned the outages were likely to continue to increase and a wind advisory remains in place for much of the state through 6 p.m. “The strongest winds have lifted [north] into northern New England early this morning, so will see lower winds early this morning,” forecasters wrote. “However, expect the winds to increase again by mid-morning as they shift to W-NW as surface pressure increases quickly. Should see gusts up to 45-55 mph from midday through the afternoon.”
