A stray bullet went through the window of a home where children were playing in West Bridgewater

Four people were found in the nearby woods and questioned, authorities said.

A stray bullet went through the window of a home in West Bridgewater, close to where two small children were playing inside.West Bridgewater police were called to the home at 173 Lincoln St. around 1 p.m. Monday after someone called 911 to say the bullet landed on a table after breaking through the window. No one was injured, and authorities picked up the bullet, police said.David Fernandes, father of the two girls, ages 3 and 4, told Boston 25 they were all at his father’s home when the incident happened.“One was sitting here watching the tablet, the other was standing on this corner over there, playing with her toys, and the bullet came through the top,” Fernandes said. “At first I thought my daughter broke the window.”Before the 911 call, police received a report of gunshots behind the Shaw’s corporate offices on West Center Street, which is close to the Lincoln Street home, authorities said.“When officers arrived to the area they continually heard multiple ‘spurts’ of gunfire coming from the wooded area to the rear of Shaw’s,” police said. “This gunfire continued but due to the thick terrain and marsh-like conditions officers were unable to locate these individuals on foot.”The state police’s Air Wing was called in, and four people with “a large array of weapons located deep in the woods” were found; they appeared to be at a campsite. The four left the woods and were taken to the West Bridgewater police department to be interviewed. Police also took “several high powered rifles.”All four people were released after police interviewed them, and officials say they’re working to determine if the bullet that went through the home’s window came from one of the guns taken. For the family, Fernandes told Boston 25 he became “emotional” thinking about the incident afterward.“Like, where my daughter was, that could’ve ended differently,” he said. “Where I was, that could’ve ended differently.”
