The event dedicated to Deirdre Zaccardi and her family is a “gathering to show our unified support and reflection of the tremendous positive impact they had on our town and greater community,” according to the announcement shared by the school district.
The bodies of Deirdre Zaccardi, her husband, and their three children were found Monday morning in their condo when a relative went to the home to pick up the kids for school. Authorities say 43-year-old Joseph Zaccardi shot his wife and their three children, 11-year-old Alexis and 9-year-old twins Nathaniel and Kathryn, before taking his own life.
Friends and neighbors have reacted with shock to the tragedy, and the community has pulled together in solidarity as everyone grapples with the loss and seeks to heal.
“When something unimaginable like this happens there’s always going to be more questions than answers,” Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz said Monday.
State Rep. Alyson Sullivan is helping to organize the event, which will be held at 4 p.m. in the Emerald Field Hall.
“It hit the community hard,” Sullivan told Boston 25 News. “To have to deal with that type of devastation is unreal.”

According to the station, dozens of community members were on hand at the town’s Polish Club on Thursday night making green ribbons to honor the family. Green is the school district’s color.
On Facebook, Sullivan shared that Deirdre Zaccardi’s family asked that in lieu of flowers, donations could be made to Keeping Pace with Multiple Miracles, a group the mother of three had been involved with since the birth of her 9-year-old twins.
“Deirdre’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of support and kindness from the Abington community and the many friends and loved ones that have reached out to them during this difficult time,” Sullivan wrote, sharing a message from the family.
