Human remains discovered near Cambridge Reservoir in Waltham
Authorities say it appears the remains had been there for “an extended period of time.”
Authorities are investigating after human remains were discovered Thursday near the Cambridge Reservoir in Waltham. “The preliminary investigation suggests that the remains have been there for an extended period of time,” the Middlesex district attorney’s office said in a statement. “This matter has been referred to the Office of the Medical Examiner.” News crews captured a large police presence near a wooded area on Route 128 south on Thursday afternoon, as authorities responded to the reported discovery.

State, Cambridge, and Waltham police are working with the DA’s office in the investigation.
