Police investigating 93-year-old Connecticut woman’s death as a homicide

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut police say they’re treating the death of a 93-year-old woman found at the bottom of her basement stairs as a homicide.

Stamford Police said Thursday they’ve determined, with help from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, that the woman’s injuries were not consistent with a fall down the stairs.

Police were called Wednesday to a single-family home where they found the woman dead at the bottom of a staircase leading to her basement. Police said family members had become concerned when they could not reach the woman by telephone and decided to check on her.

Police are seeking help from anyone who saw anything suspicious Wednesday near the Cove Road and Willowbrook Avenue intersection, between noon and 8 p.m. Neighbors can expect an increased police presence.
